1972 Armand Swenson Custom - Colt Combat Commander 45 ACP
Armand Swenson, gunmaker, innovator, and a dean of the Combat Auto, built some of the most interesting and recognizable custom 1911’s in history. This Colt Combat Commander left Hartford in 1972, and was sent to Swenson’s California shop immediately for the Sweede’s signature touches. I do not know who Mr Rogers (the name scribed in the gun) was, but he clearly knew what he needed a carry gun to do, and got a great list of custom touches done to this brand new Colt in 1972. The Super early Barsto barrel is also dated 1972. The Gun was also inspected and authenticated by Jason Burton in 2020, making it an awesome package. This gun is tight and right, has a great set of Swenson’s signature sights, and squared trigger guard. The Original hardchrome finish in in good condition, but does show some use, couple spots on the MSH.
