Once in a Lifetime 3-Gun Set - American Pistolsmiths Guild Custom Engraved-Cased 1911 Set
Rare opportunity to get an engraved set of Custom 1911’s by some of the best in the business. This set was built as a group effort to raffle off in the year 2011 to celebrate the 100th year of the M1911 Pistol.
I will try to break down the individual guns, and detail the features and the Men that crafted them.
Starting with the Government Model, Built by Virgil Tripp and his right hand man Colby Brandon. This gun has Tripp’s own Custom Adjustable rear sight and a Gold bead front. Barsto Match barrel and bushing, Cylinder & Slide Tool Steel internals, finely checkered, fit and finished front to back, Serial # APGUSA01.
The Commander built by Bill Laughridge and Ralph Gutenkunst of Cylinder and Slide. Heinie rear sight and a custom gold bead front sight. Barsto Match barrel and bushing. C&S Match grade internals, and a stunning slide top treatment! Finely fit and finished front to back, Serial # APGUSA02.
The Officers model built by the late great Terry Tussey, this gun has a done of unique and detail work on it. Tussey fit it with one of his Stealth Carry Comps on a Barsto Match Barrel. The gun has been fully reduced and softened for deep carry, he even fit it with Cylinder & Slide’s SFS system allowing for hammer down, fully cocked carry. What a superb little carry blaster. Fit with XS Express Big Dot Sights.
All 3 guns are fully engraved and Gold Inlaid by Master Engraver Brian Powley. The grips all custom made by Ed Strange of Wicked Grips. Beautiful case built by Les Yoder of Brookfield Cases. All 3 were testfired by Marc Morganti of Gemini Customs, all 3 are unfired since testing. American Handgunner did a writeup/advert for this raffle set in 2011. A great set, with beautiful features, casing, and supremely artful engraving. You could not duplicate this set today as these smith’s are all retired, or passed away. Guns and case are in great shape, few light marks on the guard/dustcover of the govt model, and the finish on the lid of the case has some crazing in it, but still looks fabulous.
