What a truly special piece here! This 1968 Colt Govt Model Slant Groove is an really neat gun all on its own. Add to that being built by Armand Swenson, and later owned by Lou Alessi, this gun has a ton going for it! An unusual Swenson two-tone, wearing Ivory grips, and with all the documentation, including the original Colt box and Swenson’s test targets. This gun was mfg by Colt in 1968, the original owner sent it new to Swenson. The original owner would years later sell it to holster magnate Lou Alessi, who owned it some years, and parted with it in the late 80’s. Per Lou’s letter with the gun, it had only 300 round thru it at that time. It remains in amazing condition. Also included is a Pistolsmith forum post where Lou and Dane Burns are discussing slant groove guns, and this one in particular! Gun exhibits Swenson’s early marking inside, a Custom thumb safety that I adore, classic K Frame sights, welded up Colt barrel, barrel positioner, checkering, fully tuned action etc etc. Rare build spec from one of the grandfathers of the Combat Auto!
