Paul Liebenberg - Pistol Dynamics Full House Custom 2011 - 40 S&W
What an awesome example! Paul Liebenberg began his gunsmithing in South Africa, where international arms embargoes forced him to fabricate many parts from scratch for IPSC/USPSA competition guns. He was a member of the World Champion South African Practical Pistol Team, building custom pistols for special forces and competitors.
In 1983, he immigrated to the United States, joining Pachmayr Gun Works in Los Angeles as manager of the custom shop, where he became renowned for innovative 1911 modifications, and work on the vaunted Combat Special model.
In 1986, Liebenberg founded Pistol Dynamics in Los Angeles to produce high-end competition 1911s, often on contract for Pachmayr. In 1989, he joined Smith & Wesson as founding director of the Performance Center, developing limited-edition pistols and production methods for niche markets. He left in 2001 to relocate Pistol Dynamics to Florida, reopening as a dedicated custom shop.
This 2011 was almost certainly built to Dominate USPSA Limited class, the 2011 40 Calibers were the gun of choice for many shooters in LTD. The gun was not competed with too hard, and remains in fantastic condition, I shot a mag thru it and it runs great. The 6” ramped match barrel is fluted, slide top is serrated, Pauls signature front sight, bushing, hammer, and beavertail are all present. I do not know how many 2011’s Paul built, but I can tell you this is only the 2nd or 3rd I have ever seen. Gun show minor wear in the DLC finish, smooth and nice action on this one.
