1990's Jim Hoag Full House Custom Caspian 1911
Jim Hoag was an industry giant for over 40 years, being one of the very best pistolsmiths operating anywhere, and even in the stiff So-Cal competition, his work stands out. This pistol was built later in his career, Caspian shipped this frame in 1993 to a so-cal standard for gun-shops, Martin B Rettig’s. In the years between 93 and 96 (date on the Heinie night sights) this pistol was crafted. It is a snap-shot of mid 90s-early 2000’s high end carry gun in both feature set and finish, but look close and you can see the old-master’s touches. The Bordered front strap checkering, hard fit barsto with relieved hood extension, slightly recessed flat top serrations, and the flawless hand checkered rear of slide all lead us to Jim. This gun, like many of his late-career builds is unmarked, as the political climate got less friendly to guns in the 90s Hoag feared litigation and stopped stamping much of his work.
This gun is in outstanding condition, very tight and smooth with minimal signs of usage. The finish is 2-tone by Robar, with Rogard on the frame and slide and NP3 on the internals, this was a cutting edge combo in those days and still makes a lot of sense today! Comes as shown with one mag and a note from Caspian about the shipment info.
