Classic 2-tone Commander built by one of the greats from the Denver area, Ikey Starks and his partner George Orndorff ran Sports West. They built really nice classic Colts for many years. From basic ‘cop’ builds to more elaborate ones like this one, to the ‘Chuck Taylor Commando Special’ (which is very similarly spec’d to this piece). Sports West built guns for competitors and gunfighters. This commander has Melted Bomar install, SW Match bushing, Reliability work up, Safari Arms beavertail. Great action job, fine checkering topped with fine stippling on the guard and frontstrap, a superb carry gun here. Finished in park over hardchrome should wear like iron.
