1915 USGI Springfield Armory M1911 -- NRA MARKED -- 1 of 100
This is a gun you have to back into slowly, The Springfield Armory (Not Related to SAI we know today) manufactured just over 25000 Pistols from 1914-1917. Only 100 Springfields were known to be sold thru the NRA’s program to make these USGI guns available to Life members. The NRA Marked them below the serial as you see on this gun. Springfield M1911’s are also very unique in their MFG, being the only Cartridge sidearm ever produced by the US Govt in one of their armories for issuance. Springfield M1911’s display a Small S Stamp on many small parts, the only one ‘missing’ the S in this pistol is the Bushing, but it is clearly a Springfield part, as the lug and machining are quite unique to Springfield Armory. Note the front sight on this pistol was replaced at some point in her last 110 years of living. So we have all Springfield internals, the finish is also original and in very good shape, original Checkered grips. Bright bore on the S stamped barrel. 2 Original (unique to Springfield) magazines. This gun is a must-have for the Military small arm collector, and 1911 collector alike. Note even the Hammer strut has the temper line it should, and the sear spring is the proper 2-tone unit!
