These Pre War S&W’s are always special guns to get to handle, the Outdoorsman is probably close to the top of the heap for my taste. These Heavy Duty ‘38/44’ guns just have a timeless look and feel to them. This one has a Call Bead front sight and wears some nice pre-war Service grips and a good bit of its original bluing. This gun has been enjoyed and shows the time it spent in and out of its Holster, as well as spotting on those exposed surfaces. But overall the gun is smooth and has held up very nicely. The action is so outstanding, the bore and chambers bright and clean. Grips do have one small repair at the back edge, and are not numbered to the gun. If you ever wanted an outdoorsman to shoot and enjoy this one will be tough to beat. Fewer pre-war Outdoorsmen were MFG than Registered Mag’s so they are tough to find in unmolested condition like this!
