His shop in Downey, smack halfway between LA and Anaheim stayed very busy building and tuning DA revolvers and 1911’s for real gunfighters. This gun is in good, original condition as built in the day. Shows some holster wear but looks to have been well cared for. These Combat Specials, built on Colts or S&W’s generally had custom sight ribs on ~3” barrels, very nicely tuned actions, radical reshaping and reducing of the grip frame, custom boot grips, also of note is the welded up ‘Hump back’ hammer that allows cocking in SA, but is pretty snag free. This one has a semi-fitzed trigger guard, and a checkered backstrap. Want to collect some OG classic fighting irons, a George Mathews gun is a must-have.
