Bill Wilson Custom -- EARLY Wilson Combat -- #120 Custom Colt 45 ACP
How many times have you read or overheard "I have a gun built by Bill Wilson"..well, here is the skinny. Bill Wilson started Wilson's Gun Shop/Wilson Combat around 1977 in the town square of little Berryville Arkansas in back of his dad's jewelry store. Trained as a watchmaker, but dad let him sell some guns in the back room and do some minor gunsmithing. By 1978, Bill was still in his dad's shop, tweaking guns like this by himself-an early 120 Competition Grade "Package Gun" that was his idea of an entry level carry and match pistol. With fixed King sights, a full reliability tune, trigger job on a short trigger with stop solid bushing fit etc. This gun was built by Bill Wilson before he even launched their first part-the # 1 Combat trigger in 1979, launching a parts and accessory dynasty that would build some amazing guns, launch some careers and put Bill in the gun industry hall of fame. By 1980 or so, Bill had hired a real gunsmith (Dave Coley) and some others like a young Ron Phillips to help out and after they moved out of the jewelry shop they built some of the finest guns of the 80's while Bill focused on the business side. (After 1980 Bill rarely touched a gunsmithing job). This is a rare opportunity to get a gun actually built by the man himself, and it remains in superb condition. Tappan sights were blacked out, but otherwise looks to be unmolested since built.
