1939 Smith & Wesson Model 1905 TARGET -- Kings Custom 38 Special
This outstanding example of not only Prewar S&W Craftsmanship, but also of DW Kings Custom work is in fantastic shape. This gun shipped October of 1939 to Paul S Linforth at his shop on Market Street in San Francisco. Mr Linforth was a very important part of Smith & Wesson history on the West Coast, as the only factory direct agent in California for some time. He dealt fine firearms out of his San Francisco shop for decades, until his untimely death in 1951. In 1932 he penned a letter to Mr. Wesson all but demanding all revolvers, especially all rimfires have recessed case heads, as he said an ‘important safety feature’. He clearly did well for himself as I found he registered a new 1919 Cadillac Phaeton. His business was located a mere 10 minute walk from Dean Kings shop, and the pair surely worked together on a regular basis. This gun features Kings custom Cockeyed hammer, and has a fabulous action job on it, note it also wears Murad Pointer grips, Murad sold his grips thru Kings for a number of years, and likely these have been with this gun from the beginning. The original bluing is in very high condition as is the chambers and bore, only minor wear. These prewar S&W Target guns are some of the best looking things they ever produced and great performers too. The Kings Customization is the icing on the cake with this one. The factory letter is on its way for this and will be included.
