Super Fine Randall Made Knives — #17 Astro — Vintage Astronaut Fighter

Super fine condition vintage Randall Made #17 Astro knife.  This comes with an original Johnson rough-back sheath and un-used Arkansas stone.  This knife was designed for and carried by Astronauts, and has the honor of being the first knife to orbit Earth from outer space.

From Randall:

“5 1/2″ blade of 1/4″ stainless steel stock. Large stainless steel hilt, silver-soldered. Approximately 4 3/8” black Micarta handle fastened with removable stainless steel bolts. A slot in the heavy tang and matching hollow inside the handle may be used to carry matches, fishhooks, lines, and other survival items. Wrist thong. (Name etching only extra feature available.) Supplied with Model C sheath.

This Randall Made™ model was specially designed for the seven Mercury astronauts who carried them on America’s first manned space flights. Astronaut Gordon Cooper did the final design and two of these historically valuable knives are on display in the Smithsonian Institution. (wt. 8 oz.)”
