Kings Gun Works – Ace Custom 3-Slide Set! — Custom Colt Comp-Gun — 45 ACP / Super / 460 Rowland / 10MM — SS08416

Really incredible multi slide, multi caliber setup here.  A 3 Slide set built by King’s Gun Works in Glendale California.  This rig was likely built by Kings the early 90s, having 2 45 ACP slides, one with a Bomar one with King’s hardball sights, and a 10mm Delta Elite slide fit with King’s Hardball sights.  The gun was then further customized by Garey ‘Ace’ Hindman out of Texas.  Ace was known for nice custom 1911 work, and especially well known for his work popularizing & building custom 45 Super’s.  This gun has a Schuemann Hybridcomp barrel fit to one of the 45 Slides, with a 3-port comp.  This topend is setup to shoot the 45 Super (which is dimensionally the same as a 45 ACP but 20%+ more power), I also testfired it with 45 ACP ball and it cycled just fine, though ejection was not strong given the stiffer recoil spring.  But a simple spring swap makes this topend ready to rock and roll with 45 ACP, and super flat shooting!  Ace Custom .45’s Inc. from Cleveland, Texas, trademarked the .45 Super in 1994 and had since marketed and assembled pistols chambered in .45 Super, as well as .45 ACP conversion kits. They ceased operations in the early 2010s.  The Fixed sight 45 topend was also customized in the late 90’s with a Clark Custom 460 Rowland barrel and comp, 460 Rowland was introduced in 1997 and bested the 45 Super by another 20% increase in power!  Clearly this gun was setup by someone that was chasing power, perhaps for hunting or bowling pins, perhaps just for fun!  The gun was not shot much and remains in great shape.

The Kings front strap checkering is great, with their polished ribbon border, great action job on this Colt, with a nice beavertail and ambi safety fit.  Gun also has nicely serrated rear of slides, I have testfired the 10mm and the 45 Super topend and both ran without issue!  Great setup with lots of options and ways to enjoy it!  The 460 topend could easily be turned into a standard 45 ACP with a barrel, but once you shoot 45 out of the other topend, you won’t want to.
