Jim West founded Wild West Guns in 1992 in Alaska and found real success in building practical, functional tools for hunters and guides.  Their claim to fame was always their custom Marlin leverguns, in custom calibers, configurations, and the Co-Pilot Takedown.  Jim was a member of the American Pistolsmiths Guild, and handed off the company to his son Jeremy who moved operations to Vegas, but not before Jim would craft many fine customs and of course I would be remiss in reminding everyone about their TV show “Wild West Alaska” from 2013-2017.

This 1980 Colt MKIV 70 Series is a great feature set, with tightened frame and slide, Heinie rear sight, Novak front, Barsto Match Barrel, upgraded internals and safeties nicely fit, nice 30LPI hand checkering front and rear.  The Ejection port also lowered and flared, extended ejector and extended mag catch fit.  Gun is finished in a black spray on coating, and topped with (fellow APG member) Sean McSheehy grips in Walnut.   Gun has been carried and shot but has plenty of life left, note there is a small, superficial crack in the frame dustcover, fwd of slide stop,  common on high round count 1911’s and does not effect dependability.
