The late, great Tim CT Brian built some defining Custom 1911s in his career spanning from the 1980s until his passing in 2024.  This two-tone Hotrod was built in the late 90s/early 2000’s on a Hillsdale Les Baer frame and slide, Les Baer frames and slide’s were some of CT’s favorite to build off of.  This Full house effort was built around the relatively new 9×23 Winchester round, which will match a 357 Magnum with 125 grain bullets, out of a 1911!  The critical design feature of the 9×23mm Winchester is a much-strengthened case that does away with the semi-rimmed case design of the .38 Super which sometimes caused feeding problems.  In contrast to the maximum pressure of 36,500 psi for the .38 Super, the 9×23mm Winchester can operate under a higher internal pressure of 55,000 psi.

These improvements, designed to aid in gaming guns, were also noticed by the defensive pistol builders of the time, a more potent, more reliable round, that would still allow more capacity than the 45 ACP.  This Pistol is a real heirloom grade, classic two tone build with polished blued flats on the slide and a hardchrome frame.  This build features some of CTB’s trademark features like the 7-hole trigger, shortened slide stop pin with chamfered hole, and fine checkering front and rear as well as serrated flat top slide and rear of slide.  Being the 9×23 and 38 super are dimensionally nearly identical, most 9×23 pistols can be shot with 38 Super ammo, I have test fired this pistol with both rounds and it performs great.  The owner of this gun has 9×23 ammo/dies available to the buyer for additional $$$.   This gun comes as shown, I believe CTB fit the spare Barsto barrel at the owner’s request, in case he burned out the first one, clearly that never happened as the gun remains in fantastic condition.
