Richard Heinie, one of the most prolific and long standing custom pistolsmiths to build the 1911. Hand Crafting fine 1911s from the late 70s until today, now in his 80s Dick is certainly winding down. He invented his own upgraded rear sight for the 1911 pistol in the late 70s, and has adapted it to many different guns and designs in the near 50 years since, his work on 1911s and long standing sight business has left and indelible mark on the industry. This Colt left Hartford in 1967, likely built by Richard in the early 1980s, marked RH187, making it the 187th custom build to leave his shop. This gun remains in fantastic shape with only minor wear in the finish. This LW Commander has great feature set, with Heinie’s custom sights up top, serrated rear of slide, frame to slide snugged up, perfectly fit and sculpted beavertail grip safety. Outstanding fine hand cut checkering on the front of the guard and front strap, perfectly beveled magwell, and a great blend/fit on the checkered mainspring housing. The tuned Colt internals have a great clean trigger break. Finished in a great polished blue on the slide and steel parts, and satin nickel on the frame and one matching nickel Colt mag included, wears handsome Rosewood grips!
