Really rare opportunity here, not only to get a interesting Cabot Prototype, but a gun owned and shot by Gunny Zins! Per Zins, this is the prototype built by Cabot to model the Vintage Classic line which debuted in 2016.

Gunny is one of the most accomplished competitive shooters in the USA, with 12 National Championships. He also served as a Gunnery Sergeant in the US Marine Corps and retired from the Corps in 2008 after 20 years of service. Some highlights of his service: Assigned to MP Company, 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, California. Served as Primary Marksmanship Instructor. Competed in division matches; earned first leg medals and Distinguished Pistol Shot status (first Lance Corporal to do so, 1991). Deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield (1990). In the 1990s – Joined the Marine Corps Pistol Team (permanent member at Quantico, Virginia). Key achievements include:

1992: 2nd place overall at NRA National Matches, Camp Perry, Ohio.

1993–1994: Inter-service Pistol Championship wins with the team.

1994: Assigned to Iwakuni, Japan (MP Patrol Supervisor, Watch Commander, Hostage Rescue Team designated marksman).

1996: First NRA National Pistol Championship win (meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant).

This gun was given to Gunny when he was shooting and working for Cabot guns, and he shot and carried it some.  This gun is still tight and smooth but has minor carry/use wear to the finish  as one would expect on a gun coming from a shooter of Zin’s caliber! Comes with the note from Gunny, Cabot did not reply to my request for a factory letter.
